The Encounter Ambient Delay+Reverb is a fully-loaded vessel of atmospheric discovery, thoughtfully designed to explore swirling celestial tones and deeply immersive soundscapes
Sound Design:
Hypersphere
Source Audio’s most expansive and textured take on reverb processing to date. Imagine the reverberations of a room with no walls, ceiling, or floor. You might say, “well in that case I would hear no reverberations at all,” and you would be correct. However, in the surrealist domain of Hypersphere, reverberations circle back to your ear from all directions free of direct reflections – they simply exist.
Shimmers
It’s plural for a reason: Shimmers is an angelic, dual-voiced, pitch-shifting reverb capable of producing two fully independent pitch voices above or below your dry signal. The CONTROL 1 knob offers five different pitch combinations of octave, fifth, and +/-10 cents, while Neuro 3 provides full flexibility to assign any pitch to either voice.
Trem Verb
A new engine that fuses a pulsating tremolo with a spacious reverb derived from the E-Dome algorithm in our Ventris Dual Reverb pedal. Five tremolo LFO shapes are available in Neuro, offering a wide range of modulation flexibility. By default, the tremolo affects only the reverb signal, but with Neuro adjustments, it can also be applied exclusively to the dry signal, or to both wet and dry for a fully immersive effect.
Reverse
A must for psychedelic and shoegaze artists. The Reverse Reverb was modeled after the classic studio trick of flipping a 2-inch tape, running the tracks backward through a reverb unit and capturing the results on a separate track. By inverting the reverb’s amplitude envelope and shaping its attack characteristics, the Reverse engine reproduces the haunting, backwards swell in real time.
Lo-fi
If you ever felt that your reverb was just too pretty, too clean, or too pure, this engine is for you. Lo-Fi is a flexible reverb that can be both distorted and/or mangled by modulation via the two CONTROL knobs.
Swell
A cornerstone of ambient guitar tones, the Swell Reverb uses envelope controls (via the CONTROL 1 and 2 knobs) to shape the sensitivity and speed of a volume swell applied to both wet and dry signals. In the Neuro editor, you can further refine the effect — isolating the swell to either the wet or dry signal, or crafting dynamic ducking and blooming reverb textures.
Noise Tape
Based on the tape delay section of the Roland Space Echo, Noise Tape takes this classic unit’s signature sound even further by allowing you to dial in anything from a clean, modulation-free delay to a timeworn swirl of degraded tape magic.
Drum Echo
Inspired by the vintage Echorec multi-head drum echo, this delay recreates its distinctive rhythmic patterns, offering eight variations via the CONTROL 2 knob (with many more available in Neuro). A modern addition is the Wash control on the CONTROL 1 knob: on the original Echorec, delay taps continuously fed back into the recording head, gradually building a reverb-like wash. Reducing CONTROL 1 decreases that wash, yielding a cleaner, more defined rhythmic pattern.
Kaleidoscope
A true original, this effect creates a lush, multi-colored cascade of delays that sparkle across the frequency spectrum, producing a scattered, harp-like texture. Lower CONTROL 2 for a more traditional delay, or turn it up to introduce the effect’s signature kaleidoscopic swirl.
Resonant
A soft and buttery analog-inspired delay that gently rolls off high frequencies with each repeat. Originally introduced in the Nemesis Delay, this version of the Resonant Delay adds access to a modulating resonant filter within the repeats, creating a vibrant, animated sound that adds living, liquid motions to every note.
EchoVerb
Where delay and reverb coexist. EchoVerb starts out as a dry and pristine digital delay but turn up CONTROL 2 and bring in a glorious Plate reverb for a perfect ambient combination.
Helix
An iridescent octave-up and reversed delay that first appeared in our Nemesis Delay. This updated version retains the original’s radiant character while introducing new pitch options including 5th, octave down, and unison. It also allows you to set the repeats in forward or reverse motion, with either compounding or fixed pitch shifts. Even more pitch variations await in Neuro.
Encounter Delay + Reverb Features:
128 Presets Memory
8 presets accessible via the pedal controls & 128 presets available via MIDI.
Stereo I/O
Create a lush stereo spread with true stereo inputs and outputs.
Universal Bypass™
Select between high-quality signal relays for true or soft bypass and transparent buffers for analog bypass.
Analog Dry Through
The instrument’s dry signal remains completely unprocessed, maintaining a 100% pure analog signal path that runs alongside the pedal’s delay effects.
Dedicated Footswitches
The left footswitch is the ON/OFF for the delay. The right footswitch is the ON/Off for the reverb.
TapTempo Switch
The left switch also provides tap tempo when the delay is engaged.
Knobs “Lock” Switch
Flip the KNOBS switch to the center position to lock your controls in place, protecting your settings from accidental bumps in a live setting.
